Senior ID cards available this month

Hawaii County Coordinated Services for the Elderly Program will issue senior ID cards for seniors 60 years and older from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Kohala CSE building. Cards will also be issued from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at Walmart in Kailua-Kona; 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 12 at L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea; 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at St. Jude’s Church in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 27 at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building B.

Canadian storyteller coming to libraries

Canadian storyteller Anne Glover will perform at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Thelma Parker Memorial Library in Waimea and 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pahala Public and School Library. The performances are in celebration of the 2013 HSPLS Fall Programs for Youth and Teen Read Week.

Glover, from Victoria, British Columbia, will present stories featuring mind-bending figures she weaves out of a loop of string. Glover combines elements of sign language, sound effects and charming characters as she shares classic folktales and stories of childhood events.

Kona Masons
meeting Wednesday

Kona Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons meets Wednesday at the Kona Masonic Center, 73-5577 Kauhola St., Suite 7, Kailua-Kona. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and is followed by a 7 p.m. meeting and dessert.

water group to meet

Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District meets 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conservation Services’ service center, 67-1185 Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea.

Kailua-Kona Seniors meets Wednesday

Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. A general business meeting will take place followed by election of officers for 2014.
